Hello!  I just wanted to give you a few facts about my class.

  I try to keep my grade book as accurate as possible in real time.  If I am missing something from your student, I put in a zero and mark it as missing.  That will change as soon as your student has turned it in.  I want it as clear as possible for you and your student to see what they have missing, but it can change if they do the work.  I try to stay on top of kids that are missing assignments, but with so many kids, it can be difficult to communicate with them.  If you would please remind your student to talk with me after they have been absent, that would be a great help.  Some work can only be done in class, which is why it may take a bit of time to get that zero to disappear, but I promise we will get to it.  I also offer extra credit regularly, so your student has many opportunities to help their grades.  

I will tend to email you instead of calling because, if needed, I can do it in class or between classes if there is an issue.  I also know how busy you are, and I don’t want to interrupt your time.  If it needs to be taken care of immediately, however, I will not hesitate to call, but most issues can be taken care of through email.  I can also text you if that is your preferred method.  If it is, please let me know in an email.
