Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M Generalist Teacher's Certification for EC-6 ESL Certified

Mrs. Lindsey Thompson

Hello Broncos!

My name is Lindsey Thompson.  I am starting my 8th year of teaching at the Ranch and my 18th year of teaching.  Before being blessed to work at the Ranch, I taught for 10 years at Freedom Elementary in the Southside Independent School District.  I have learned a lot over the years about myself and teaching and I can tell you that I am always up for a challenge.  I have taught Prekindergarten, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and now 5th grade.

I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach Early Childhood through sixth grade, English as a Second Language, as well as Gifted and Talented students.  I am a product of NEISD and I am so thankful to be teaching in the district that I grew up in.  I attended Clear Spring Elementary, Garner Middle School and graduated from MacArthur High School in 2000 (Go Brahmas!).

My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 19 years.  We have 3 amazingly unique children who are making their way through NEISD as well.  When I am not teaching, I spend a lot of time with my family.  We enjoy watching movies, playing video games and going to the beach and river.  I was lucky enough to grow up with a Mom as a teacher, so I spent many summers helping her get her classroom ready for the next year. I jumped into teaching with my eyes wide open.  As well as my Mom being a former teacher, my sister also jumped into teaching.  She is currently a Math Coach in Humble, Texas. I guess you could say that teaching runs through our veins.

My favorite thing about teaching is being able to be there when a student has an "a-ha!" moment.  These are amazing to see and be present for.  When a student is struggling through something but they finally get it, that is one of the most rewarding experiences of teaching.  I try to cultivate an environment of support, fun and hands-on teaching.  My belief is that you have to do something multiple times in different ways to truly understand it.

I am looking forward to this year with you and I hope that you are just as excited as I am!
