Community Update for March 31

Dear ISA Families,

Yesterday afternoon, we bid farewell to our international guests from Germany. International exchanges like this and our upcoming trip to Japan provide our community with opportunities to stop, reflect, and enjoy how special a place we share at ISA! We send a special THANK YOU to our ISA families who opened their homes to students and to our staff--especially Charles Castillo and Suzeth Ramirez--for hosting our international colleagues and organizing both sides of this exchange relationship! This year marks a decade of exchanges with our friends at Ziehenschule and we look forward to many more experiences together!

One of the pillars of ISA’s graduate profile asks students to Take Action to realize positive changes in their community. This past Thursday during Advisory, students received permission slips to prepare for our whole community commitment to take action as the ISA student body and staff travel to sites on campus, near campus, and across San Antonio to participate in service to our community.  This day of service, fondly known as Globie Service Day, will take place this year on April 12. Please ask your student about the permission slip, sign it, and help your student remember to return it to their Advisory teacher this week!

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the ISA Golden Globies will host their spring induction ceremony from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the LEE library MPR.  Dress code is business casual.  Families are welcome to join us as we enshrine our founding class.

Students interested in applying for the ISA Golden Globies in the 2024-2025 school year, should have their application filled out by 4:30 p.m. on April 12th. Students can access the application here under "NEHS Application Form."

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the LEE Student Council presents Romance in the City! Tickets for this year’s Junior/Senior prom cost $40 and will be on sale during all lunches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday! Students who wish to invite a guest who does not attend school at LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM can pick up an off-campus guest form in the ISA Office.

LEE/ISA/NESA/STEM campus yearbooks are still available! Click HERE for more information and a QR code to make a purchase!

Looking ahead, on Monday, April 8, 2024, our campus is expected to be in the path of totality for an unique astronomical event! As we plan for students to learn about and view the total eclipse of the sun we wanted to share that we will be able to provide viewers for all ISA students on April 8th! We also know that some families may not want their students to participate in the viewing. If this is the case, we ask that you opt-out of the experience by completing and submitting THIS Eclipse Opt-out to the ISA Main Office by Wednesday, April 3, 2024!

A non-astronomical STAAR event begins the day following the eclipse next week.  STAAR EOC Exam administrations begin Tuesday! Below is a look at the STAAR EOC calendar:
