Mrs. Melissa Morales

Bienvenidos and Welcome! I am excited to begin my 16th year at ISA and my 20th in education.  My passions lie in making connections with others through communication and ISA has been the perfect fit for me professionally and personally.  My experiences, faith and passions have drawn me to teach Spanish and the Peer Assistance and Learning (PALS) class.

I am a native of San Antonio, Texas.  I was raised on the Southside of San Antonio.  I graduated from South San West Campus High School.  I attended Boston University, and completed my bachelor's degree at St. Mary's University. I continued my graduated education at Trinity University and earned an MAT. I was an intern at Lee High School and later taught at Lee for 3 years.

I am an active wife and mother of 4 children.  I enjoy gardening, crafting, jewelry design, and all things embroidered! I have traveled extensively throughout the US, Mexico and the Carribean and hope to continue my travels to new places within the the US and abroad. Learning and teaching Spanish has given me the opportunities to listen, and understand the stories of others.  I continue to grow as a person and gain perspective through each personal connection I experience.

I am blessed to have a co-teacher/ Trinity Intern in the classroom this year.  Mr. Gaedke and I will work together to plan, teach, and learn practices for teaching Spanish!  I am excited for this new and adventurous year in learning and teaching Spanish.

Griffin is a graduate student participating in Trinity University's Masters of Art and Teaching Program. He graduated in the summer of 2020 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish. Griffin's passions lie in using Spanish to build understandings and connections between different communities all around the world. He's also very proficient at technology based learning and always has a trick up his sleeve for any technological situation.

Griffin has a wide range of experience working as a teacher/student teacher. Aside from previously working with ISA for education practicum courses, Griffin taught Taekwondo to both primary and secondary students from 2009-2017. He's been teaching Sunday School, as well as generally remaining involved in the events of the Children's and Youth ministries at San Pedro Presbyterian Church from 2017 to 2020. In 2018 Griffin spent seven weeks working as an assistant teacher intern at Real Colegio de Nuestra Señora de Loreto, a catholic school in Madrid, Spain.

Griffin was born in San Antonio, Texas and was raised mostly in Alamo Heights. He is a man who likes to stay connected to his friends and community. In addition to the work he will be doing with me and Sra. Berta Galan this year, he also spends his Sundays at San Pedro Presbyterian Church working as the Audio/Video manager to livestream his church's services every week. He is really excited to be working with me and your kids!

¡Nos vemos en clase!
