Community Update for January 14

Dear ISA Families,

As recruiting and application season for next year comes to a close, ISA will host two more in-school Shadowing Days this Friday, January 19, 2024, and Friday, January 26, 2024. ISA will also host an in-person Information Night next Friday, January 26, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in ISA Flex Space (room S-103). The ISA Lottery Application is open until Monday, February 5, 2024, for all interested 8th graders and can be found HERE and on the ISA webpage! Please feel free to share these dates with anyone who might be interested in the Globie experience next year.

On Wednesday, January 17th, Jostens will be on campus during all three lunches to deliver class rings!

Also on Wednesday, January 17th, representatives from SA Worx will be on campus during 5th period lunch. SA Worx will present to ISA students about internship opportunities available through area businesses and organizations. While the presentation’s target audience is 11th graders, ALL are welcome! More information about SA Worx is available HERE.

On Thursday, January 18th, the Allied Campus Theater (ACT) will premier their production of Mamma Mia! Join our community for this fun musical presentation! The show begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Can’t make it on Thursday? There are three more performances on January 19th and 20th at 7:00 p.m. and a matinee on January 20th at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE. My. My. You won’t want to miss it!

Senior families who were unable to attend last Wednesday’s final travel meeting can review material covered in the slide show linked HERE! Families who need to finalize payments for our seniors’ travel experience to Washington, D.C., may submit online payments through School Cash Online or submit cash/check payments to Mr. Tran. Please contact Mr. Tran at ktran@neisd.net with questions.

As our Senior Team makes final preparations for our seniors’ departure on February 5th, our campus nurse, Crystal Schweers, is also preparing! Nurse Schweers is accepting any overnight medication that students may need during the D.C. travel experience:

  • All medications, along with the proper forms, should be turned in to the campus clinic on or before January 30, 2024.

  • Special requests requiring doctor’s orders--including self-carry orders--should be on file with the nurse!

  • NEISD employee chaperones will administer medications, and families should submit all medication in the original package containing only the amount necessary for the duration of the travel experience.

  • Students may NOT carry ANY medication on their person unless they have a current doctor's order to self-carry from the school nurse for this school year.

  • If you are not sure about the above details or have any questions, please, contact Nurse Schweers at (210) 356-0821 or by email at cschwe@neisd.net.

The LEE Campus PTSA has updates to share with our whole campus community, please read the PTSA newsletter HERE to stay current.

Looking ahead, student applications for CIEE’s High School Summer Abroad program are due January 24, 2024. CIEE will host two more virtual events including an application workshop on January 24th! Please register here.

The next high school early release day is scheduled for Tuesday, January 30th! Students will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.

Tomorrow, Monday, January 15th, is a student and staff holiday honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We look forward to seeing our students back in the ISA hallways on Tuesday, January 16th!

Finally, as everyone stays warm this weekend, we encourage families to monitor NEISD Critical Updates at www.neisd.net/criticalupdates.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Steve Magadance and the ISA Faculty
