Who’s behind the lunch line at Northwood?

Just when you thought Enchilada Wednesday couldn’t get any better, it does. Some very special guests showed up to serve the lunch favorite to students at Northwood Elementary School.

Oct. 9-13 is National School Lunch Week (NSLW), and one of the ways North East ISD celebrates this is by inviting District leadership out to personally serve lunch to our students during that week.

Students are always curious about the new faces behind the lunch line.

“Is that our new chef?” asked one student.

No, in fact, guest servers included members of our NEISD Board of Trustees and Executive Staff.

The cafeteria staff at Northwood got some help serving on “Enchilada Wednesday” from Board President Shannon Grona, Board Secretary Sandy Hughey, Trustee David Beyer, Executive Director of Communications Aubrey Chancellor, Executive Director of the North East Educational Foundation Katherine Rocha, Chief of Schools and Leadership Rudy Jimenez, and Chief of Instruction Anthony Jarrett. A special guest from the Texas Department of Agriculture, Laura Benavidez, also took her turn behind the cafeteria line.

NSLW highlights the nutritious meals served by our hard-working school nutrition professionals, emphasizes healthy lifestyles, and connects students to Texas agriculture.

Did you know NEISD serves local Texas produce and products in our cafeterias?

Join us in giving thanks to our guest servers, as well as the many school nutrition employees who serve our students healthy lunches each school day.
