Mrs. Teresa Hackett
This is my fourth year teaching at Northwood, and it will be my 14th year as an elementary teacher in San Antonio. Fourth grade was my favorite year of elementary school, and I love teaching it as well!
I grew up in El Paso where I enjoyed reading, drawing and painting, as well as writing for my high school newspaper. I went to the University of Texas at Austin where I met and married my husband. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Learning with a specialization in English.
When I graduated from college, my husband and I moved to San Antonio, and I taught 4th and 5th grade at J.T. Brackenridge in SAISD for six years. I then transferred to NEISD where I taught 5th grade at Montgomery Elementary for four years, and I was voted Teacher of the Year two years in a row.
I took a teaching sabbatical when we decided to start a family, and for seven years I had the privilege of staying at home with our two children, now ages ten and six. We love going to state parks and the rock climbing gym together, as well as spending time with our rescue dog, Dogtor Watson.
I use the ClassDojo app to communicate with parents, as well as regularly sending home a "Graded Papers" folder.
As a parent, I know first-hand how important it is to have a caring teacher who will create a strong relationship with your child. I love working closely with parents to help their child have the best year possible!
