Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Teresa Hackett

This is my sixth year teaching at Northwood, and it will be my 16th year as an elementary teacher in San Antonio. Fourth grade was my favorite year of elementary school, and I love teaching it as well! This year I am very excited to be 4th grade's reading, writing, and social studies teacher!

I grew up in El Paso where I enjoyed reading, drawing and painting, as well as writing for my high school newspaper. I went to the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Learning with a specialization in English.

When I graduated from college, I moved to San Antonio, and taught 4th and 5th grade at J.T. Brackenridge in SAISD for six years. I then transferred to NEISD where I taught 5th grade at Montgomery Elementary for four years, and I was voted Teacher of the Year two years in a row.

I took a teaching sabbatical when my son was born, and for seven years I had the privilege of staying at home with my two children, now ages eight and twelve (current and former Northwood students). We love spending time at parks and hanging out with our rescue dog, Dogtor Watson.

I use the ClassDojo app to communicate with parents, as well as regularly sending home a "Graded Papers" folder.

As a parent, I know first-hand how important it is to have a caring teacher who will create a strong relationship with your child. I love working closely with parents to help their child have the best year possible!
