About Mrs. Colleen Churn

Hello. Well, I would like you to know a little about my family and me. To start, I received my BA in IDS, and a specialization in Early Childhood Education, from UTSA. I am also ESL certified, English as a second language and I have a certificate in Family and Consumer Science. I have been teaching for 24 years. My first job in North East Independent School District was a long-term substitute job in second grade. I was hired the following year as a Kindergarten teacher and fell in love with them. I have taught Kindergarten for 11 years. I then moved into second grade, which I have taught for 13 years and love them just as much!!! I am blessed to be able to continue with the sweet and lovable second graders that I love teaching! I feel I have been blessed to be able to work in such a rewarding profession. I have always known that teaching was what I was going to do. 

I am married to a wonderful man, and we have two great boys. One who has just turned 24 and has just celebrated his first year annivesary with his beautiful wife, an working a great job! The second son, who is almost 21 years old and is working full time and continuing his 2nd year in college. I am very proud of both of the boys. 

When I am not teaching, I love anything outdoors; running, camping, hiking, mud-runs, but my favorite is hanging out by the water (beach, lake or pool). I also really enjoy traveling, live concerts, and sporting events.

I have been very blessed in many ways. I love teaching and want to thank you and let you know I feel honored that you are allowing me the opportunity to teach your child! I look forward to a wonderful year!
