Welcome to another school year! My name is Ms. Malone, and I am thrilled to begin my nineteenth year of teaching. I have been at Canyon Ridge since it opened, and I am extremely fortunate to be the Gifted and Talented teacher at our school.  I look forward to embarking on a new year full of challenge, adventure, and LEARNING.

Prior to teaching GT, I was a kindergarten teacher for five years. I then asked to jump up to a new grade level, and decided to try out 5th grade. Though eleven-year olds seemed a bit scary compared to my kindergarteners, I fell in love with the age group. I ended up staying in 5th grade for six years. I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to become the gifted and talented teacher here at Canyon Ridge. This is now my eighth year as the GT specialist on our campus, and I couldn't be happier.

I have two adult children. My son is 28 and wrapping up his degree at UTSA. My daughter is 25, and she is a talented artist also working on her degree at UTSA. Both played soccer most of their childhood, and I now enjoy watching my son coach his own club soccer teams.

At home, I have one dog and one cat. They both definitely rule the home, and they know it! In my free time, I enjoy reading, completing logic puzzles, listening to music, and walking in nearby parks.

I often tell people that I have the best teaching job around. In our classroom, I get to challenge students to reach new heights, help them learn to view failures as opportunities, guide them to develop leadership skills, and encourage them to become life-long learners. It is an honor to work with these talented students.
