Mrs. Shawna Reeves

I am the Instructional Interventionist Teacher at Roan Forest Elementary. I love working with small groups of students to make reading fun! We work together to develop strategies to assist with reading and comprehension. I began my teaching career in the fall of 1991 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My military husband, two daughters, and I toured the southeast living in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Being able to call Roan Forest and San Antonio home the past twelve years has been a true blessing! My husband and I will celebrate our seventh anniversary on Leap Day of 2020....do the math...that is 28 years! LOL!! 2020 promises to be a very big year as our older daughter is planning her wedding (she got engaged at Disney World last Spring Break!) and our younger daughter will graduate from Smithson Valley High School at the end of this school year. Last year we hosted an exchange student from Thailand and chat with her daily. We miss her and she misses our family and TEXAS!!! You will see her in my photo gallery....go check it out!

This summer I was one of the few IITs selected to attend the Scottish Rite Dyslexia Therapist Training and am so excited to bring the Take Flight curriculum to our students in dyslexia intervention/therapy. I also attended the PreFlight training for our younger students, who are not quite ready for Take Flight. I will continue training throughout the school year bringing the absoute best to our students. There are only eight IITs in the district with this training! We spent about 125 hours in training this summer!!

I hope your school year is filled with many adventures, as well. Books can take you on many magical adventures, too. Some of my favorites are Because of Winn Dixie, Little House in the Big Woods, Charlotte's Web, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are, The Cat in the Hat, Frog and Toad Are Friends, Madeline, Mercy Watson, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Anne of Green Gables, Wonder, and Ramona the Brave. There are so many good books out there to read. Grab one!!

  • My schedule is flexible and based on the needs of our Roan Forest students.
