Mrs. Susan Wimberly
Hello students and parents! My name is Susan Wimberly and I have been teaching at Jackson-Keller Elementary for 5 years. My philosophy of education is based on student centered learning and creating a community of learners. I strongly believe in teaching students that mistakes are opportunities to learn; which is a Growth Mindset for learning.
My educational background has been a long but fruitful journey. I started by going to community college with a major in Fine Arts, but quickly learned I had a passion for teaching while working as a paraprofessional. I then changed my major to teaching and graduated with Associates in Teaching. The following year I began working on my bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies EC – 6th at Texas Tech with the 2 + 1 program. This intense program greatly prepared me for my first few years of teaching. As the years go by, I continue to learn more about the science of teaching and best practices for teaching young minds.
Some things I love to do in my free time is spend time with my husband and our fur baby, Karma (Our kitty). I also love to spend time in my garden with my many succulents!
I want you to know that when your child enters our classroom, they are loved, valued, and have a teacher who will be there to cheer them on every step of the way.
