A voice for all

The Women’s Equality Club at Roosevelt High School operates with one goal in mind: make a positive impact on campus and the community as a whole. Club founders and officers Ava Schreier, Britney Nguyen, Caroline Evans, Kailani Hinojosa and Latavia Ogilvie are well on their way to doing just that with the help of their sponsor, Ms. Melero.

“The Women’s Equality Club strives to make it known that anybody can most certainly change the world for the better,” explained Schreier. “The club’s sole goal is to help women find their voice to speak up for not only themselves but their peers as well.”

So far, the club has hosted meetings in the Molly Pruitt Library in honor of Women's History Month and created a float that highlighted influential women in history for their school’s Fiesta parade, among many other initiatives. They also invited their first female guest speaker who specializes in STEM to speak about women’s empowerment.
