Mrs. Shannon Luciano

Hello, I am Shannon Luciano. This is my second year as part of the Las Lomas pride, and I still feel a bit like a transplant to the Lone Star State as we relocated from the Aloha State a little over a year ago. I taught in Hawaii for 5 years, first as a long-term substitute for a year and then as a Special Education teacher in various settings with students ranging from K-2nd. I am very excited to be working as the 3rd grade Special Education teacher this year! There is so much to learn and discover in the 3rd grade curriculum, and I know these Las Lomas Learners are going to soar!

In what feels like a previous life, I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with my Doctor of Architecture and my Bachelor of Spanish Language and Literature. While I spent some time as an architect, I became passionate about education when my oldest daughter missed the school age cutoff for Kindergarten in Hawaii and I began to learn about the science behind learning and development in a panicked attempt to keep her from "falling behind." [Oh to look back on those first time mom worries!] However, I am so glad that I happened upon and fell in love with this profession, because I truly enjoy fostering a love of learning in our next generation of leaders.

In my free time, I enjoy discovering fun things to do around town with my family. My husband retired from the Air Force a little over a year ago, but we still have so much to discover about San Antonio and the surrounding areas. I have three daughters - one at Pieper High, one at Pieper Ranch Middle, and one at Kinder Ranch Elementary. Between us we have 4 school schedules to manage! I also love to read, or when I don't have time to sit down, listen to audiobooks, and ride bikes [but not in a Texas summer!].

I can't wait to get to know more about each of the students I'll be working with this year too! Welcome back to what promises to be an amazing 2024-25 school year!
