I am the Instructional Interventionist Teacher and Dyslexia Therapist at Roan Forest Elementary. I love working with small groups of students to make reading fun! We work together to develop strategies to assist with reading and comprehension. I began my teaching career in the fall of 1991 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My military husband, two daughters, and I toured the southeast living in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Being able to call Roan Forest and San Antonio home the past thirteen years has been a true blessing.
This summer I completed the Scottish Rite Dyslexia Therapist Training and am so excited to bring the Take Flight curriculum to our students in dyslexia intervention/therapy. I am now a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT). I meet with students who meet the dyslexia criteria.
I hope your school year is filled with many adventures, as well. Books can take you on many magical adventures, too. Some of my favorites are Because of Winn Dixie, Little House in the Big Woods, Charlotte's Web, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are, The Cat in the Hat, Frog and Toad Are Friends, Madeline, Mercy Watson, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Anne of Green Gables, Wonder, and Ramona the Brave. There are so many good books out there to read. Grab one!!
My schedule is flexible and based on the needs of our Roan Forest students.
