SETA officially lifts off at NEISD

That’s one small step for North East ISD, and a giant leap for our Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA).

Our inaugural class of sixth graders and freshman officially began their SETA journey at Roosevelt High School and Krueger Middle School today, Monday August 14.

Aidan Sweeney, a freshman at Roosevelt, is excited to be part of history at NEISD. He learned about SETA while attending Lopez Middle School last year.

“I took computer science and robotics classes [at Lopez] and that got me interested in engineering,” said Aidan. “I really enjoyed it, so I figured this would be a good fit for me. I’m excited to be a part of it.”

NEISD is just the second school in history to acquire a Space Act Agreement with NASA. At SETA, our students can select pathways in aerospace, aviation technology, computer science, or manufacturing and mechanical engineering.

SETA has a direct line to NASA in the form of our new NASA Instructional Coach, Izaak De Leon. Our partnership combines invaluable field expertise and resources that's incorporated into every facet of the magnet school program.

Students from all over San Antonio, regardless of address or boundaries, are eligible to apply to SETA and all other NEISD magnet school programs, with magnet application acceptance starting in October for the 2024-2025 school year.
