Mrs. Kerri Puhl
Hello! I am one of two Physical Educaton teachers at Steubing Ranch Elementary who is most commonly known as "Coach Puhl." I have a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, a National Group Fitness Certification, I am CPR & AED certified and I am the Water Sports Chair Elect (2018-19) for TAHPERD (Tx., Assoc. for Health, PE, Recreation & Dance).
I have been married for 25 years and I have 3 children, who I often talk about in class. My oldest daughter is in Grad school at Georgetown University, my son is attending Southwestern University and playing basketball for them and I will be sending my third and youngest daughter to The University of Texas at Austin to attend the Nursing School. I/We are sad that we will now be Empty Nesters, but excited about having more time for the hobbies that I love. I enjoy going on road trips with my family, taking hiking excursions, I love to play a variety of sports and enjoy reading when I have down time. I also have 3 crazy dogs that keep me busy.
This will be my 19th year in education and I am as passionate and excited about teaching today as I was the first day I started. I love seeing kids moving, learning, laughing, collaborating and sweating! Movement is life!
We do many fun activities in P.E. and I am so excited about some of the new things that will be introduced this year such as DrumFit, 9 Square and Birdie Ball Golf. Some of the other units we will cover will be Gymnastics, Volleyball, Noodle Hockey, Jump Rope, Obstacle Courses, Basketball, Crazy Games, Cup Stacking, Fitness Stations, Shark Week and so much more! I also organize an annual school-wide Jingle Bell Walk, a Cardio Club for 3rd-5th graders during class and a Water Field Day. There is also a 4th and 5th Grade Track for those that qualify.
My main goal for kids is to find something (hopefully many things) they love and continue to do those things, and more, in the future. I also want kids to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit for life!
