Ms. Jennifer Imken
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Oak Meadow Elementary. I am honored to join such a vibrant and student-centered school community. I have already heard so many wonderful things about Oak Meadow—a campus known for its wonderful community, school pride, and unwavering commitment to educating the whole child. The strong partnerships between families, staff, and the community are clearly a cornerstone of this school’s success, and I am eager to continue building on that foundation.
Prior to joining Oak Meadow, I served as an Assistant Principal in North East ISD for the past eight years—five years at Northern Hills Elementary and three years at Fox Run Elementary. Before entering school leadership, I was a classroom teacher at Tuscany Heights Elementary, and served in the United States Army. Each of these experiences has shaped my core beliefs about education: that schools should serve as the heart of the community, maintain high expectations for all learners, and provide meaningful, developmentally appropriate instruction that prepares students to thrive. My goal is for every student to reach their full potential and to develop a lifelong love of learning through the support of our entire school community.
I have an amazing daughter, Milanna, who graduated from Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in NEISD. She is currently attending college in hopes of becoming a psychologist. My son Tucker is 11 years old and is beginning middle school this year! He is a gamer and LOVES TO READ ALL THE TIME. He will do anything for ice cream or tacos, and is definitely my “mini-me” in every way. He loves to make everyone feel good and laugh whenever he can. When I am not at school, you will definitely find me with my family and friends living our best lives or at your local Whataburger. Yes, I am obsessed.
I am truly excited to begin this journey with you. Please know that my door is always open and I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff in the days ahead. Together, we will make this another phenomenal year for our Maverick community!

Mr. John Purcell
I feel very fortunate to be part of the amazing Oak Meadow community. This is my first year at Oak Meadow as the Assistant Principal.
I have been in education for over 29 years, 16 of those as a teacher at various grade levels ranging from kindergarten through high school. I have been an assistant principal for 13 years and 5 years as a principal at a local private school.
I am a Texas State graduate, which is where I met my beautiful wife, Barbra. We have been married for 28 years. We also have two beautiful daughters, one in school at UT Austin and the oldest in nursing school. We love to spend time together and go on trips when possible. We have one dog who loves to go on walks!
My passion for education is to help students succeed and feel good about themselves. I want children to know that learning is fun and it will help them achieve their goals and dreams. It is an honor to be part of nurturing children and watching them grow. I’m really thrilled to be a Mighty Maverick!!!
