Earn College Credit in High School with Dual Credit at NEISD
NEISD students can get a head start on their college degree and save on tuition by earning college credit while still in high school through dual credit programs. NEISD partners with Alamo Community College San Antonio College, St. Philip’s College, and Palo Alto College campuses to offer academic and career-focused dual credit courses to eligible students.
Articulation Agreements
These agreements are available for students to take high school courses that may count for local articulation credit within community colleges at ACCD (Alamo Community College District). Credit opportunities vary by campus following the terms of the agreement.
Statewide Articulated Credit (ATC)
The Advanced Technical Credit (ATC) Program allows high school students to receive credit at participating community colleges across Texas for taking certain enhanced technical courses. The ATC Program does this by creating statewide articulated courses - these are special high school courses that can transfer to community colleges.
Why Take Dual Credit Courses?
Taking dual credit in high school offers many benefits:
- Earn college credits before graduating high school, getting a head start on a degree.
- Save money on tuition by completing college credits at high school dual credit rates.
- Get ready for college by experiencing advanced college-level academics with the support of high school faculty.
- Explore interests with dual credit courses spanning various academic areas.
- Stand out on applications with college credits signaling motivation and readiness for higher academics.
Apply for Dual Credit Courses
Students should consult with their school counselors about applying for the dual credit program to take advantage of the opportunity to accelerate their academic progress. Counselors can guide eligible students through the application process and getting started with college-level courses while still in high school.

Follow These Steps to Enroll in Dual Credit Courses
Dual credit allows high school students to take college courses and earn credit towards both their high school diploma and college degree. Follow these steps to enroll in dual credit:
- Complete the ApplyTexas college application.
- Review your school's Dual Credit Handbook and submit the checklist by the deadline.
- Prepare for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2) with test preps.
- Take the TSIA2 placement exam or the ACT/SAT to qualify.
- Submit your Dual Credit Checklist to counseling by the deadline.
The TSIA2 exam determines readiness for college-level academics. It is a Texas state-mandated assessment that evaluates college readiness in reading, writing, and math. The TSIA2 identifies areas for improvement to help students prepare for college-level coursework. Passing the exam is required to qualify for dual credit. Speak to your high school counselor about registering for the TSIA2.

The Registrar charges a fee for each transcript ordered, which is a residential fee, not an NEISD fee. Students can access SAC records and transcripts for the request form and additional information can be found in this transcript request presentation.
