Mr. Brian Wood

Welcome back to Steubing Ranch Elementary. I am very excited to be returning to the Steubing community and look forward to meeting and working with you this year as we positively encourage your child to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.  It is important for me as your child's teacher to develop positive relationships and promote a work ethic in your child that may challenge their own learning in and out of the classroom.
I was born in Bremerton, Washington, a naval shipyard city across the Puget Sound from Seattle and raised in Olalla, (land of the berries by local Indians) Washington, a picturesque quaint town locked in between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains with the Puget Sound as my back yard. I feel I had a perfect childhood because I had the freedom to roam and explore the woods, valleys, and beaches without any worry or fear of violence or misfortune.
In my latter teenage years, I moved to Loveland, Colorado, with my father and sister and graduated high school and finished college at the University of Northern Colorado. I earned a degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. While in Colorado, I taught 3rd, 4th, and two years of 5th grade in Longmont and Fort Collins, Colorado.
I met my wife, Christina, while living in Colorado. We moved to San Antonio to be with her family. We have two beautiful daughters, Brooke and Madeleine, and a  Schnauzer Border Collie Mix and two cats.  My wife is also in elementary education and teaches as Cibilo Green.  I taught 6th grade Social Studies in San Antonio for nine years at Anson Jones Middle School.  This is now my nineteenth year at Steubing Ranch in the 5th grade.
I earned a master's degree in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis in Technology from Houston Baptist University in 2002.
My interests include: family and friends, church, playing scrabble, golf, creative writing, playing basketball, but no longer...doctor will not let me ( I played college basketball for two different colleges), gardening, reading, photography and wood working. I am also a Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty as well.
