When to Keep Your Student Home

We need parents’ cooperation in not sending children to school who are exhibiting symptoms of illness such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rashes, and pink eye.

In accordance with Chapter 97, Subchapter A, of the Texas Administrative Code, North East Independent School District requires students with fever be excluded from school until fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medications. The Texas Department of State Health Services defines fever as a temperature of 100.0 F (37.8 C) or greater.

Parents and guardians are expected to pick their child up as soon as possible if they develop a fever at school. Students who develop a fever at school will be required to stay home from school until they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
