“This is a major opportunity as I prepare for college.”

Mia Trevino is preparing for her senior year at MacArthur High School

She’s excited.

And she’s well on her way.

This summer, she’s using the industry-based certification she earned through her coursework at The Institute of CyberSecurity & Innovation (iCSI) as a paid intern in the NEISD Technology Services Department.

“I really enjoy the field, and this is helping me figure out what I like and what I don’t like to help me know what specific path I would like to go through. We are applying what we learned in class to a real scenario. It’s fun.”

iCSI is a high school-level magnet program that provides students with hands-on experience and practice with networking and defending technology from cyberattacks. Students can stay at their home campus, and NEISD buses take them to and from the iCSI campus. This internship provides these students with real-world experiences and learning opportunities, setting them on a path toward success in an in-demand career they are passionate about.
