These Churchill Chargers are Chicago bound!

These Chargers are Chicago bound!

Join us in saying good luck to the Churchill High School Orchestra as they travel to Chicago, Illinois next week to perform at the prestigious Midwest Clinic. The orchestra is under the direction of Jason Thibodeaux and John Thornton.

Groups from around the world submit recordings each year with the hope of being selected to perform during this conference each year, and very few are chosen.

“These students have received world-class instruction since the days of their fifth grade strings program,” said Phil Flynn, North East ISD Fine Arts Director of Music. “Mr. Jason Thibodeaux and Mr. John Thornton have established such a strong culture of excellence in this award-winning ensemble.  It is unbelievably inspiring to watch what their students can achieve year after year.”

Churchill’s mariachi group, which is made up of members in the orchestra, will also perform in the Exhibit Hall at the Midwest Clinic.

Congratulations to all the students and teachers involved in this incredible achievement!
