My name is Catherine Perkins and I am so excited to be here at Coker Elementary School, home of the Cubs! This is my 4th year at Coker as a 3rd grade teacher, and my 25th year in education. I graduated from Madison High School (many years ago!) and went on to receive my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and my Master's Degree (M Ed.) in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I am married to a wonderful man who is also an educator in a neighboring district, and my child is attending high school in NEISD.
In my 25 years of teaching, I have taught students at all levels (K-5), served as a Math/Science Interventionist, Instructional Coach, and Master Teacher. As an educator, I work hard to build connections with students, meet them where they are academically, encourage them to excel, and ensure they are ready for whatever future challenges come their way. In my class, we focus on 21st Century Skills: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Outside of school, I love to travel, shop, and watch movies.
I believe we are going to have a great year! If you need to contact me, the best way is through email.
Catherine Perkins, M. Ed.
