NEISD provides pivotal stepping stones on path to success
North East ISD has been there for many big moments in Alison Lee’s life.
She met her husband at MacArthur High School.
Their oldest son just graduated from Johnson High School.
She taught for eight years at Huebner Elementary School.
Now, NEISD is helping her achieve her next big dream—becoming an assistant principal.
“I have worked under many wonderful administrators that have set fantastic examples of what a Principal and Assistant Principal should do. My last principal, Carol Pierce, always told me ‘You were born to lead.’ That definitely encouraged me to begin my path to become an administrator.”
After getting her master’s degree and principal certification, Alison was selected for NEISD’s Administrative Intern Program. This gave her the chance to work with District administrators and prepare her for the next step in her career.
“This program has allowed me to dig deeper into the domains of administration. It has also given me firsthand experience to shadow administration, and learn about the roles administrators play within our District by interning at my home campus.”
As an intern, she meets with other aspiring administrators to learn from NEISD Executive Directors. They explore and discuss topics like school climate, budgeting and school law.
“The best part about the program are the connections and relationships I have built with both the executive directors and other aspiring leaders and current Assistant Principals in our District. This program has been a wonderful asset to assist me in being prepared for the new role I will have as Assistant Principal of Northwood Elementary.”
The year-long program was exactly what Lee needed to feel fully prepared to apply for the recently-opened Assistant Principal position at Northwood.
“I am so appreciative of the many mentors I have had throughout my journey. They have definitely helped pave my path for success!”
