Mrs. Deanna Cupero

Hello Wilderness Oak Wolves! My name is Deanna Cupero, and I am the Instructional Intervention Teacher.  I feel so blessed to be teaching and working with students at the best school in San Antonio!  I have been teaching for 22 years, and have been at Wilderness Oak since it opened 15 years ago. I love our school community, and I am passionate about educating children, and helping students find success in reading.  I know this is going to be a thrilling year filled with learning, leadership, laughter, and new friends!

I always dreamed of becoming a teacher while growing up in Corpus Christi, Texas. After high school, I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where I received a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I later attended the University of North Texas where I earned my Masters of Education in Reading. I started my career in Dallas, Texas teaching 6th grade, and later worked as a Reading Specialist with students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Luckily, we moved to San Antonio, and I began teaching at Wilderness Oak in 2005 as a 5th grade teacher. I am currently thrilled to share my love of reading, and passion for learning as the Instructional Intervention Teacher.

My family is very important to me! I have a wonderful husband, and have been married to him for 27 years. My daughters are Wilderness Oak alumni too. Both my daughters attended Lopez M.S., and Reagan H.S. My oldest daughter graduated from Texas A&M and will begin her career as a first year teacher in 2nd grade this year.  My youngest daughter is in her junior year of nursing school at UT Tyler.  I am a very pround mom! We also have two very cute, and very active dogs. Meg, who loves playing with her toys constantly, and Presley who likes to cuddle. Between teaching, enjoying family time and playing with the pups, I love to read, enjoy swimming, shopping and hanging out with my friends. I look forward to an awesome year filled with reading, fun, and excitement!
