Amanda Martinez

Welcome to my classroom!  I'm so excited to be working with your students.  Together we will have a great year!

I graduated from Reagan High School (NEISD, San Antonio, TX) in  June 2001.  I attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Child Studies and Language Development with a Music Specialization.  I graduated in May 2006.  I taught for seventeen years at Ridgeview beginning September 2006 and am excited to start my eighteenth year at Stahl.  I have taught 3rd grade, 1st grade, Kinder and Pre-K. I just completed a Masters of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from UTSA in May 2023!

I am certified in the state of Texas in EC-4 General Classroom, All-Level K-12 Music, and English as a Second Language.  I believe in creating a child-centered classroom with a growth mindset. In our classroom your student will grow and benefit from our discipline plan guidelines.  They are based on the classroom management and social emotional program, Conscious Discipline, that creates a learning environment where children will know, "Yes I am safe" and "Yes I am loved".  Students learn problem solving skills, managing their emotions, and taking responsibility for their actions. I am excited to include technology on a daily basis and integrate a variety of arts into the curriculum regularly. I find ways to differentiate learning for each student and focus on the strengths and skills each child can bring to our class family so each child can feel recognized and needed, and finds purpose and meaning in our classroom. I believe in working with our families and utilizing their strengths and backgrounds to blend the learning environment between home and school and helping students build their sense of identity.

In my free time I have a variety of interests.  I enjoy spending time with friends and family, including my kitties Luna and Tigg, watching movies or cheering on my favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and our San Antonio Spurs.  I love to visit with my young nieces and nephews and see all the new things they have learned.  I enjoy reading, writing, exercising, and swimming, as well as photography and singing in my church choir.  I have finally been able to do some traveling post COVID in the past year and plan to do some more in the future!
