Mrs. Johnson
Hello,
I am so excited to be a Wetmore Ranger this year. This is my first year with NEISD. Prior to Wetmore, I taught outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana since 2015. This is my 10th year in the classroom, and I am excited to be in 3rd grade again. My family moved to San Antonio in July 2024. I lived in Denham Springs, Louisiana for the last 10 years, but I am originally a native Texan. I grew up in Coppell, TX just outside of Dallas, so I am very happy to be back in my home state. I am married to my husband of 7 years Jordan, and we have a daughter named Amelia, who is 6 years old and in first grade.
A little bit about my educational background. This is year 10 in public schools, but my love for teaching started much earlier when I was in high school, and took teaching classes my junior and senior year, and got to shadow a 4th, 6th, and kindergarten teacher. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades, with the majority of those years spent in 1st grade. I was also a mentor teacher for the state of Louisiana. My dream is to become an instructional coach and get back to mentoring teachers. I graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana with my undergrad in Family and Consumer Sciences, with a concentration in Child Development and Family Relations. I then went on to graduate with my Masters of Art in Teaching, with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education.
I look forward to teaching your students this year and building a classroom family with them. Please reach out with any questions that you have, and I will answer within 24 hours or during school hours if possible.
We will be taking donations for a snack bin, so that students who forget their snack can grab something to eat.
My classroom is a PEANUT FREE zone. I am allergic to peanuts, so I ask that you do not send peanut-based snacks with them for snack time. Thank you for your understanding.
