Mr. DiPiazza

Greetings! I am the current coach for Reagan's successful debate team. I also teach English IV and Professional Communications. I joined Reagan High School in the fall of 2017, but I have been a part of the high school and college debate communities for several years as both a competitor and a coach.

Debate is a competitive, tournament-driven activity that rewards hard work and commitment -- no one is born a "good debater." We talk fast and use big words. But, for the determined student, high school debate is one of the most intellectually challenging (and rewarding) extra-curricular activities recognized by many top colleges. Our team has a long history of accomplishments, and it's never too late to share in that experience.

Favorite books: The Lord of the Rings, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original trilogy written by Stieg Larsson), Gone Girl, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Stranger in a Strange Land (the original, unedited version), The Sandman graphic novel series, all of the Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories, and anything/everything written by Ray Bradbury.

Unpopular opinions: 1) a window seat is preferable to an aisle seat on an airplane, 2) puns are neither funny nor clever, and 3) Avengers: Endgame was overrated.
