Ms. Marisol Askey
Welcome to the North East School of the Arts! I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Director of NESA. The North East School of the Arts has long held a special place in my heart. The rhythm of the fine arts isn't just a background melody in my life; it's the very pulse of it. Growing up, I was practically raised on the stage. My mother, a retired choir teacher, and my aunt, a professional opera singer, instilled in me a profound appreciation for the transformative power of the arts.
My own educational journey wasn't always smooth sailing. As a high school student, I wasn't always the most focused individual. However, it was the unwavering dedication and guidance of my fine arts teachers that truly set me on the right path. Their belief in me, even when I doubted myself, ignited a passion that continues to burn brightly.
Following a fulfilling decade as an acting and communications teacher at MacArthur High School, I transitioned into educational leadership. But my core motivation has always remained the same: to create a nurturing environment where students can discover and cultivate their artistic talents. My vision for NESA is a place where structure and support empower students to reach their full potential, both as artists and individuals.
Leading with an open and vulnerable heart, while maintaining transparency and strong leadership, will be the cornerstones of my approach. I am eager to meet and learn from each and every one of you – students, staff, and parents alike. Together, we will build upon NESA's remarkable legacy and foster a vibrant community where artistic expression thrives.
