Hello! My name is Karina Gonzalez and I am a second grade teacher at Wilderness Oak Elementary. This is my fourteenth year teaching. I have been at Wilderness Oak for nine years but I have been part of the Wilderness Oak family for twelve years, starting when my eldest daughter first attended this school as a kindergartener.

I am originally from Laredo, Texas, which is also where I started my teaching career. I graduated from Texas A & M International University in Laredo in December of 2000. In June 2002, I got married and moved to Eagle Pass where I continued to teach for a few more years. In 2005, my first daughter (Alexa) was born and a couple of months later, my husband got a new assignment and we moved to Montreal, Canada.  Although our time in Canada was great, we missed being close to family and decided to move back to Texas. Shortly before we returned to the U.S., our second daughter, Alyssa, was born. We were fortunate to move to San Antonio and love it so much that we decided to make this our home.

My husband and I have been married for 20 years and have two daughters. Both girls attend Reagan High School. My oldest daughter Alexa is 17 and is a Senior and my youngest, Alyssa is 15 and a Sophomore. Our latest addition to our family is our 1 year old dog Maeve who brings so much joy to our family. We love to spend time as a family and take short trips, go to the movies, visit family and just spend quality time together. Our girls keep us pretty busy with school, dance, games, and friends but we wouldn't have it any other way. 

Being part of Wilderness Oak as a teacher and for many years as a parent, I have a huge place in my heart for this school. I love running into former students (and parents) in the hallways and feel so lucky to be able to work at this amazing school!
