Celebrating Roosevelt's 2024 Summa Cum Laude Students
North East ISD is proud to celebrate the Summa Cum Laude students at Roosevelt High School. These ceremonies honor the incredible accomplishments of the dedicated students who are graduating from high school with grade point averages above 100. These young men and women mastered every academic test we placed before them and exceeded the highest standards, but they wouldn’t be here without the teachers who inspired them.
Anakin Gaitan is one of Roosevelt’s inspiring Summa candidates. Tonight, he will honor a teacher who has helped him see how much he can accomplish.
“It’s an honor to be a part of the Summa Cum Laude class of 2024. Me and my peers recognize that this didn’t happen easily. However, we all had a beginning, mine was with my 2nd/3rd grade teacher, Monica Rivera. She helped me not to see my disabilities but work on my possibilities. Coming into 2nd and 3rd grade, I had already faced speech and hearing impairments. Despite this, Mrs. Rivera was always patient with me and put herself on my level, giving me the confidence and the strength to get here today. Thank you, Mrs. Rivera for your guidance and leaving a profound impact on my life. You are a great mentor.”
Seyma Kilic is honoring a teacher who was always there for her and always will be, Ms. Tina Finley.
“From the time you drove all the way to school during break to get my recommendation letter to the many times you made sure I safely got in my car after leaving the school while it was dark outside, you have shown me what care and affection looks like. Your classroom has become a safe haven, and you, a shoulder that I could always rely on. A shoulder that would give me advice, hugs, recommendation letters, and even snacks when I needed it! Ms. Finley, you have left an incredible mark on my life. I cannot wait to take a piece of you everywhere I go.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2024! Roosevelt's Summa celebration will be held the evening of Tuesday, April 2.
