Mrs. Michele Barrera
Hi! I love our amazing school and the wonderful community. I have been in Redland for two years. I have been teaching for 17 years, with over a decade of experience in 5th grade ELAR. I have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of states, such as Virginia and Washington. Also, I have taught every single grade level from PreK-5th, and they are all my favorites in their own ways.
I have 5 wonderful children, ages ranging from 10-24 years old. I have recently become a grandma and I love it! Such an exciting season in my life. My husband is retired military and we have made San Antonio our home. We love cheering on the Spurs and having family movie nights, walking our dogs, and exploring the city highlights, such as the theme parks, zoo, and most of all, we love trying new restaurants.
I graduated from Texas A&M-University-Kingsville in 2004, and I am finishing up my Masters in Educational Leadership. I have a passion for reading and writing. I can always be found at a book store browsing for hours and deciding what new books to add to my collection. I want to instill that joy of reading and writing to the students so they can be able to share their voice and ideas!
