Business Collaborations & Internships

Holt CAT
Our partnership with Holt CAT provides opportunities for students in the Applied Agricultural Engineering Program to learn on-the-job with a world-wide company through a paid internship opportunity. Students can begin the internship opportunity as early as junior year and, upon graduation, be eligible to be hired full time with Holt CAT.
Through this internship, students have the opportunity to experience the many facets of Holt CAT which includes diesel engine repair, machine and power train service, equipment maintenance, metal fabrication, custom engineered production, and transportation logistics, all the while developing their technical and collaboration skills.Community Pet Health Center
Community Pet Health Center is one of many local veterinary practices that AMP partners with to provide internship opportunities to students in the Animal Science Program. Students are eligible in their senior year to have a paid internship with Community Pet Health while earning high school credit and their Level 1 Certified Veterinary Assistant credentials.
Internships with Community Pet Health provide students with experience in all aspects of veterinary medicine, including preventative care, disease diagnosis, emergency medicine, rehabilitation, breeding & genetic services, client education, and more. The experience and skills students obtain can propel them into a future career in animal medicine or any other avenue of animal sciences.

H-E-B Floral Division
The H-E-B Floral Division Internship program is designed to prepare students in the Plant Science Program for future careers with H-E-B. The program is an 8-week summer internship, from June to August, that offers AMP students going into their senior year the opportunity to combine their high school floral experience with real world business application.
This partnership offers students an opportunity to work in an environment where they can learn, investigate career choices, and apply their education. Interns work approximately 20 hours a week during this paid internship opportunity and receive an overview of all aspects of the H-E-B Floral Division, technical training, and exposure to the H-E-B Leadership team as part of their experience.

Tarleton State University
AMP participates in the Tarleton Today dual enrollment program which provides students the opportunity to accelerate their college preparation. Teaching agricultural sciences has been an integral part of Tarleton State University from its founding in 1899 and the university is known for delivering innovative experiential learning, conducting relevant research, and providing community and global service.
Through the Tarleton Today program, AMP students taking coursework in the Agribusiness Program are eligible to earn 3 hours of college credit upon completion of the Agribusiness Management & Marketing course. Instruction includes the use of economic principles such as supply and demand, budgeting, recordkeeping, finance, risk management, business law, marketing and careers in agribusiness.

Palo Alto College
Palo Alto College is the home to agriculture and horticulture sciences for the Alamo Community Colleges. AMP has a long-standing partnership with Palo Alto College in offering dual credit opportunities for our students. Several AMP staff members are adjunct faculty members with the college, giving our students the opportunity to earn college credit while taking courses in the Animal Science, Environmental & Natural Resources, and Plant Science programs.
AMP students can earn up to 18 hours of college credit through AMP coursework before graduating high school. The college credits can be applied towards certifications or associate degrees offered at Palo Alto College, or the credits can potentially be transferred to other colleges and universities that have agreements with Palo Alto College.
