• The progress of Pre-K learners will be evaluated via informal assessments and observations. As the children immerse themselves in music class activities (singing, moving to music, investigating instruments, playing games, listening to music, chanting rhymes, and more) their level of independence and development will be assessed. On the progress reports, you will see a number indicating this skill level.

1 = Student is unable to exhibit skill even with the teacher's help
2 = Student exhibits skill with minimal guidance
3 = Student exhibits skills independently and consistently
4 = Student consistently exhibits skills ABOVE & BEYOND expectation

Please note that these numbers do not indicate how much your child has learned (for example, they are not promoted from a rating of 1 to 2 once they have attended 5 classes and or learned 10 songs). The classwork will advance along with the children's development.

Also, please keep in mind that a grade is not a reflection of character, nor does it indicate the potential future (good or bad) of your child: at this age, changes happen daily. Where they struggle on Monday, they might excel on Wednesday, and struggle again on Friday. Every single day holds the opportunity to strive, achieve, persist and improve!
