• Give your child the gift of discovery.

The Pre-K Academy at West Avenue strives to make your child’s first steps in their educational journey with sure footing. Our teachers understand the critical role they play in a child’s education, and they do not take that role for granted. They are certified in early childhood education and take part in on-going professional learning throughout the year. Our instructional assistants receive appropriate training as well. Small class sizes (22 students with 2 competent educators) also ensure each child gets adequate attention and guidance from their teacher.

Your child will explore science, technology, engineering, art and math in classrooms guided by teachers trained in early childhood education.

Your child’s teacher and instructional assistant—both highly qualified—will nurture and guide using proven strategies and lessons designed to support the Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines.

In addition to our standard curriculum, we offer opportunities to learn in two languages, special education support for students with special learning needs, transportation services, and after school care.

    Mission

Our curriculum takes the whole child into account by introducing social, emotional, and academic skills through several different teaching strategies. Our mascot is the wildcat, an animal born to be free; therefore, West Avenue Wildcats are given plenty of opportunity for playful and purposefully learning experiences designed around Texas Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines. Our goal at the Pre-K academy at West Avenue is to make sure our students are excited and fully ready for a lifelong journey of learning.

    Vision

The Pre-K Academy at West Avenue nurtures the social, emotional and academic growth of our students by providing interactive experiences that lay a foundation to become life-long learners.

    Education Approach

Our curriculum is based on the Texas Pre-K Guidelines and emphasizes conceptual learning through participation in meaningful, relevant experiences and curriculum-based play. While attending the Pre-K Academy at West Avenue, students are participate in a special curriculum focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM). To reinforce strong social and emotional development among our students, experiences in the classroom serve to provide opportunities for resolving conflicts, setting goals, achieving greater independence, and learning enhances skills for socializing and collaborating with peers.

  • Our Cluster

Welcome to the LEE Cluster in the North East Independent School District. As a Pre-K Academy School student, your child will establish a passion, curiosity, and foundation for life-long learning while nurturing their social and emotional skills. Outside of the classroom, your child can embrace what they love or try something new through diverse clubs, programs and organizations.

Students from the Pre-K Academy will attend one of the NEISD elementary schools before moving on to middle school.

Your child will discover even more opportunities at Nimitz and Jackson Middle School. As their academic foundation expands in the classroom, their circle of friends and experiences will grow through new opportunities in Athletics, Fine Arts, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, competitive UIL contests, and more. The STEM Academy Middle School magnet is located at Nimitz. In this program, students forge a foundation for future careers in biomedical sciences, engineering, and technology fields.

At Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School, your child will excel academically and socially while embracing beloved Volunteer traditions with memories that will last a lifetime. Your child has the freedom and support to pursue their passions in a variety of nationally recognized programs, organizations, and clubs – from Athletics to JROTC, Band, Dance, PALS, Photography, UIL, and much more.

LEE High School is home to the International School of the Americas (ISA), the STEM Academy High School, and the North East School of the Arts (NESA). ISA focuses on project-based learning that tackles global issues while NESA paves the way for students interested in theatre, filmmaking, writing, art, and dance. The STEM Academy offers problem-based, technology-rich curriculum for students wanting to continue their study of science, technology, engineering, and math after graduation.
