About the Program

  • This course prepares students for the Texas Department of Health and Human Services Certified Nurse Aide exam. Students learn 23 state-mandated skills, including but not limited to: patient care, transporting, hygiene, and positioning. Students must complete lecture and clinical hours to qualify for certification examination. Clinical rotation hours are typically completed in an assisted living facility and may occur on weekends and/or during spring break.

Students are encouraged to follow a pathway of prerequisite medical courses at their home high school prior to enrollment in this program. Prerequisites of Biology and Health Science Theory are required for automatic enrollment. Students who have not met these prerequisites will be added to the program wait list.
