• Career and Technical Education Center

    • Entry-level industry-recognized certifications are offered in all CTEC programs.
    • Skills USA student organization gives students the opportunity to compete against other schools. Competition takes place at local, state, and national levels.
    • All CTEC programs are designed to provide real-world, hands-on learning opportunities which provide meaningful experiences for students. 
    • Guest speakers from industry partners often visit classrooms in order to connect students with industry practices and experiences.
    • CTEC meets regularly with advisory councils to ensure our programs are meeting industry needs
  • Enrollment and Deadlines

    Students should apply to CTEC through the Magnet Common Application online. Students who complete the application process will be given enrollment priority. To schedule a visit, contact the CTEC main office.

  • 2024-25 Magnet Application Timeline

    Each magnet has an application on their website. Students must meet minimum requirements to be considered for enrollment, with requirements varying by magnet school program. If there are more qualified students than seats available in a magnet, students may be selected by lottery.

    • Applications Open: October 1, 2024
    • Lottery Application Deadline: January 20th, 2025 at 11:59 PM
    • Acceptance Notifications: February 3rd, 2025
    • Deadline to Accept: February 14th, 2025
    • Open Enrollment Deadline: July 31, 2025
  • Want training in a specific career field?

    The Career and Technical Education Center, (CTEC) is home to the Medical Professions Academy, Construction Technology Academy and Transportation Technology Academy. Each academy offers specific  oursework that is not available on any other NEISD campus. CTEC courses are open to students who attend any one of the seven NEISD comprehensive high schools. Courses are offered at three times during the day, and transportation is provided from the student’s home high school to and from CTEC.

  • Career Opportunities

    Any certification earned at CTEC will allow a student to apply for entry level employment within his/her chosen industry. Transportation and Construction Academy students may even earn credit while participating in work-based learning programs while in high school.

  • Transportation

    Shuttle bus service is provided from the student’s home high school to and from CTEC. Students may drive themselves or carpool to CTEC for class, pending parent and NEISD approval.
