About the Program

  • This program prepares students for entry-level employment in the electrical field or for a post-secondary degree in construction.  Students gain knowledge and skills in safety, tool usage, residential wiring, commercial wiring, and motor controls.

     

    Students are not required to participate for all four years; however, students who wish to pursue a career in the Electrical industry are encouraged to do so.  Students must participate for two years to earn a Electrical Systems Business and Industry Endorsement.

Year 1 This course provides an introduction and lays a solid foundation for those students entering the construction or craft skilled areas. The course provides knowledge of construction safety, construction mathematics, and common hand and power tools. This course is a hands-on approach that provides skill specific construction methods, and occupation skills to assist the student in obtaining and maintaining employment. This is the level 1 course for Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Welding 9th-12th 6763Ex, 8154EX 2.0
Year 2 This course provides students with knowledge and skills specific to those needed to enter the workforce as an electrician or building maintenance supervisor or prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction. 10th-12th 8155x 2.0
Year 3 This course provides students with knowledge and skills specific to those needed to enter the workforce as an electrician or building maintenance supervisor or prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction. 11th-12th 8078x 2.0
Year 4 Students in this course participate in work-based learning. Students can earn credit while participating in a paid/unpaid internship. All student placements must be approved by the Construction Technology Academy. 12th 8166x 2.0
