Shannon Wylie (maiden name: McKinley) started her teaching career at Barbara Bush Middle School where she taught 8th grade American History for three years. When the opportunity opened to become the cheerleading coach at MacArthur High School, Mrs. Wylie was eager to return to her alma mater and head up the cheerleading program there. While at MacArthur, she taught U.S. History, Dance, and Cheerleading for six years. During her time coaching at MacArthur, the Varsity cheerleaders finished in the top five at UCA nationals in the Small Varsity division (2007 and 2008).

When the district decided to open a new school, Mrs. Wylie was excited to help in starting brand new traditions and begin a cheerleading program at Johnson High School. She has been teaching at Johnson since the school opened in 2008. She has taught cheerleading, dance, AP/Dual Credit U.S. History, and grade level U.S. History. Mrs. Wylie is proud to have coached the four-time 6A UIL Cheerleading champions (2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019) as well as squads that finished multiple times as runner-up at UCA nationals. She is extremely grateful for the standards, the legacy, and the precedence set by all of the cheerleaders who have been a part of the program.

In 2020, Mrs. Wylie transitioned to teaching full time and has also been serving as the CTJ National Honor Society sponsor. She has enjoyed sharing her passion for U.S. History through teaching AP and Dual Credit U.S. History, and has been excited about helping students work together to serve their community through their membership in the National Honor Society.
