• About Us

The Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA) magnet school program is the premier open enrollment campus for students interested in the engineering careers of tomorrow. With four career pathways, enrolled students can select aerospace engineering, aviation technology, computer science, or mechanical engineering & manufacturing. Each of these career pathways is linked to an industry-based certification that allows students to demonstrate mastery of career skills during high school. SETA's historic Space Act Agreement with NASA provides a NASA employee on site to provide access to NASA-created lessons, activities, and exclusive access to events not available to the public. SETA offers an unparalleled learning experience where students benefit directly from NASA's expertise and, with open-enrollment, students across San Antonio can join SETA's prestigious magnet school program and embark toward success.

SETA believes in providing our students with real-world exposure and networking opportunities, which is why our comprehensive curriculum includes two years of computer programming education for all SETA High School students. The educational training, paired with SETA's strong network of industry partners, ensures a solid foundation for success. SETA is dedicated to establishing vibrant futures for our students by working with industry partners and the city of San Antonio to create job and internship opportunities, with our ties eventually allowing for a multitude of opportunities outside of SETA.

    Our History

The Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA) initially started as the Krueger School of Applied Technology (KSAT) and the Engineering Technologies Academy (ETA) over 20 years ago. Both of these schools provided quality engineering education for decades before emerging as SETA, which brings together a common focus on engineering education that uses aerospace and aviation as the framework. This change has allowed for students to have a seamless transition from middle school to high school and has brought in many exciting new elements, including the partnership with NASA and student designed space experiments that will be conducted on the I.S.S. by astronauts. By looking towards the future, SETA is able to teach modern concepts, skills, and problem solving strategies to the next generation.

    Our Goals

At SETA, our goals are to:

    • Provide students across San Antonio with real-world, hands-on experiences

    • Foster a passion for aerospace, aviation, and space

    • Nurture industry partnerships to enrich our curriculum

    • Develop every student’s ability to be career and college Ready

    Innovative Learning

The joint effort between SETA and NASA brings invaluable field expertise and resources that are seamlessly incorporated into every aspect of our educational experience. From curriculum development to exclusive opportunities, SETA students are immersed in the world of engineering with real-world experiences. This enables our magnet school program to offer a diverse range of engineering career pathways, allowing students to specialize in their areas of interest. Through engaging educational teachings in design, manufacturing, and flight courses, students gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge to excel in their chosen field.

Our strong foundation, supported by an advisory board of industry leaders, higher education representatives, and experienced community members, allows us to provide students with recognized industry certifications. This distinction sets SETA graduates apart with enhanced credentials, ensuring they are well prepared post-graduation. Depending on the pathway and certification, graduates have the flexibility to seamlessly transition into the workforce or explore post-high school educational pathways.
