• Academic Approach

Our academic approach is designed to break down barriers and ensure that higher education is accessible to all students by eliminating tuition, fees, and transportation costs. We focus on boosting college readiness by preparing students for college-level academics and equipping them with the skills needed to excel. Our commitment to providing access to elite educational opportunities extends to all students, including historically underserved demographics, at no cost. We complement this rigorous academic preparation with real-world experience through internships, hands-on learning, and career-related experiences with our labs and partnered businesses, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for their future careers.

  • Educational Benefits

Students benefit from a unique educational experience that allows them to earn an associate degree and career certifications alongside their high school diploma. Through partnerships with San Antonio College (SAC), students can take dual credit classes both at MacArthur High School and on the SAC campus starting as early as 9th grade, establishing a solid academic foundation for their future. Enrollment is open to all students, emphasizing inclusivity and accessibility, with transportation provided between other NEISD high school campuses and MacArthur.

Our comprehensive Summer Bridge program for incoming 8th-grade students enriches the transition to MacUNITED with orientation, team-building activities, TSI PREP, field trips, and college visits. Despite being dual enrolled, students enjoy a traditional high school experience at MacArthur High School, participating fully in clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities. Classes are offered at multiple locations including MacArthur High School, SAC, and online, ensuring flexibility to accommodate diverse schedules and needs of our ECHS students.

  • Tuition Costs

MacUNITED does not charge for tuition, textbooks, fees, or transportation. This saves our students from significant expenses: approximately $6,900 for two years at a community college and about $9,500 for two years at a four-year university. We offer these benefits free of charge, allowing students to earn an associate degree and certifications without any financial burden, representing a substantial value of approximately $9,500.

    Career Certifications

In addition to an associate degree, MacUNITED students can obtain:

    • Microsoft Expert Certification
    • Intuit QuickBooks Certification
    • VITA Tax Preparer Certification
    • Certified Teacher’s Aid Certification

These industry-recognized certifications complement an education degree with its specialized skills and experience. They demonstrate a student's capabilities to employers and give them a competitive edge in the job market.
