Mrs. Ano
Hello and welcome to GT (Gifted and Talented).
My name is Kerry Ano. This is my third year at Woodstone Elementary. I moved to Woodstone from Vineyard Ranch Elementary School where I taught since it opened 10 years ago. Before teaching at Vineyard Ranch, I taught at Wilderness Oak Elementary School. I started teaching in 2005 and have enjoyed teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 4th grade.
Before teaching, I was a graphic designer for 14 years. As a graphic designer, I designed logos, websites, corporate identities, and billboards. It was an exciting and fun career that I look back upon proudly. After having my daughter, I stayed home to raise her. As she began Mother's Day Out and preschool, I wanted to be a part of education. I went back to school when I was 34 years old and earned my Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Education 2 years later. My new journey in education began. It is hard to believe I now have 20 years of teaching under my belt. I have a love of learning. I am always looking for new things to learn and new ways to do things. As a part of my learning, I have become certified to teach Early Childhood through 4th grade, Gifted and Talented, and English as a Second Language students.
One of the best educations I received was my childhood. My father has retired from the American Air Force, and my mother is British. We lived all over the world as we moved from base to base. As we traveled, we learned so much about other cultures and traditions. I was born and raised for most of my childhood in England. Yes, I most certainly love tea, but coffee is my favorite.
When I am not teaching or learning, I enjoy being at home with my husband, Mark, and our daughter, Ashley. Ashley graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in applied mathematics with a specialization in statistics. As a family, we love to spend time together working on house projects, playing with our dogs, Eevee, Dante, and Samson, and watching movies with a big tub of popcorn.
I'm looking forward to a great year.
