Degrees and Certifications:
Early Childhood-6th Grade Certified ESL Certified
Mr. Thomas Yarrington
I got into teaching in a roundabout way. I originally set out to be involved in business, and I graduated from Texas A&M in December of 2004 with a degree in Finance. However, about midway through college, I volunteered at one of the local elementary schools.
It was during this volunteering that I realized I really enjoyed teaching. So, after careful consideration and speaking with Region 20 personnel about alternative certification opportunities, I made the decision to change career paths. Since then, I completed the Region 20 alternative certification program, substitute taught for a year in Northeast ISD, and moved to Uvalde, Texas to teach 4th grade for my first two years. I am certified to teach pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, and I am a certified English as a Second Language teacher.
This is my 16th year in teaching (13 in 4th grade and this will be my third in 5th), and I have been a proud Stone Oak Bobcat for thirteen years. I love teaching and have never looked back!
