Dear Nimitz/STEM Parents, Students, and Community Members,

My name is Christina Sanchez and I am proud to be in my 1st year serving this fine community.

I possess an extensive tenure of more than two decades in education, primarily focusing on middle school education. My multifaceted background encompasses roles ranging from mathematics educator to departmental coordinator, culminating in my most recent engagement in educational administration.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Mathematics from the esteemed University of the Incarnate Word. Additionally, I have achieved a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio, solidifying my academic foundation.

My upbringing in San Antonio, coupled with the invaluable influence of my parents, has imprinted upon me an unwavering dedication to the pursuit of education and a robust professional ethos. Marrying my devotion to education with my personal life, I am fortunate to share my life with my esteemed life partner and am a proud parent to three wonderful daughters.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I find gratification in outdoor pursuits, literary exploration, continuous learning endeavors, and cherished moments spent in the company of my family.

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Nimitz Middle School. It is an honor to join Mrs. Sanchez's amazing team, and I am grateful for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to working in partnership with the Nimitz family to continue providing our students with meaningful learning experiences and a safe environment where they can grow, succeed, and feel respected.

Over the past 15 years in education, I served as a teacher, district coordinator, and administrator. Education is the second career with which I fell in love with. I enjoy the challenges of education, working in teams, and encouraging two-way communication. It is my life's goal to continue learning new methods and to be able to meet the individual needs of our 21st-century learners.

I am originally from Ecuador. I came to San Antonio during my junior year of high school and have called this my home ever since. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Texas At San Antonio, in business and educational leadership. Outside of work, I am a wife and mom to two beautiful children ages 20 and 17. I love to spend time with my family, cheering them on all of their different activities throughout the year. Aside from my family, I find a passion for learning.

I am committed to working alongside Mrs. Sanchez and her team as we continue to provide amazing opportunities for all students.

      Welcome to Nimitz/STEM Academy!

We are so excited to be serving your student this school year! STEM Academy is a place not quite like any other. We seek to serve our students through small learning communities, while still getting to take full advantage of the offerings of the main campus. It’s great to link arms with our Seahawk family!

Having served as an elementary teacher, a high school teacher, and STEM Assistant Director, I have a great understanding of meeting student needs. Our unique problem-based learning approach helps students make deep connections with the curriculum and encourages them to innovate and explore. I look forward to partnering with your family as we encourage students succeed in the classroom as well as in the various extracurricular activities in which they participate. It is an honor to work with each student, parent and faculty member in order to promote academic excellence in this positive and supportive learning environment!
