• Can I be enrolled in a High School Outside of NEISD And Also Attend ICSI?

Students do not have to live within NEISD boundaries in order to attend our ICSI magnet school program. However, students who are currently enrolled at another school district will need to enroll full-time at MacArthur High School in order to attend ICSI.

Can I attend another magnet school program while also attending iCSI?

Yes, although scheduling will be a challenge and elective options will be limited. For example, if a student is enrolled in our STEM, DATA, or SETA magnet school programs, their respective elective requirements will still need to be met. This means there would be no further room for traditional electives such as band, choir, orchestra, or sports on a class schedule.

    What about transportation?

Transportation directly to and from ICSI and NEISD high school campuses is provided for students. Route times have already been factored into their daily schedules so academics can resume normally throughout the school day.

Students who are enrolled in ICSI late afternoon classes and also normally utilize the bus to depart from their high school campus for home are suggested to provide their own transportation directly from ICSI. Afternoon buses that transport students from ICSI back to high school campuses may arrive after the departure of buses transporting students on traditional bus routes. Students can view the ICSI bell schedule for further details.

What cybersecurity experience or skills are required to become an ISCI student?

All students need is an interest in cybersecurity and a career in the tech industry. No previous experience or skills are necessary to be successful since our qualified ICSI instructors can determine skill level and will structure curriculum to a student's skill set.

If a student enrolls and already has experience and skills in a certain area, they'll never be asked to do something they already know how to do. Instead, our instructors at ICSI will adapt the curriculum to better fit their educational needs and challenges.

    Are certification exams paid for?

NEISD covers the financial aspect of certification exams so there are no costs for students or parents. Our district is happy to provide the funding because these certifications are in such high demand and add incredible value to student resumes and college applications.

Does ICSI have a CyberPatriot team?

The Institute of CyberSecurity and Innovation does not have a CyberPatriot team. However, the CyberPatriot program is closely aligned to the skills and curriculum emphasized at ICSI. Students who attend ICSI are strongly encouraged to lead CyberPatriot organizations, start teams, and teach after-school classes at their home campuses.
