Frequently Asked Questions

  • What will my child be doing in the library?

    Posted by:

In addition to checking out books for pleasure, your child will learn 21st century library skill including research and inquiry skills.  They will also create through exploratory learning opportunities (Makerspace) and with the use of technology, art, and building materials. Perhaps the most important thing your child will do in our library is to share the love of reading through reading challenges, reading programs, book clubs, book talks, book reviews, and read alouds.  My goal is to have all students excited about reading and coming to the library!

  • How can I volunteer in the library?

    Posted by:

We love our wonderful library volunteers! There are so many things we need help with in the library and we really appreciate any help we can get.  Possible ways to volunteer include shelving books, preparing materials for projects, events, or lessons, and putting your creativity to use through book displays, decorations and bulletin boards.  Please email Mrs.Figueroa (librarian) at mfigue2@neisd.net to get started volunteering.  We have some volunteers that come daily, weekly, or monthly.  We appreciate whatever time that you can give. Thank you!

  • Does the library have fines or fees?

    Posted by:

No, we do not collect fines or fees for books that are overdue.  However, your child will not be able to check out a new book if they have an overdue book.  If a book is lost or damaged it will need to be paid for.  We will accept cash if it is exact change or a check made out to Encino Park Elementary Library. Please contact Mrs.Figueroa at mfigue2@neisd.net to inquire about paying for a lost or damaged book.  We will send overdue notices home if a book has not been returned in several weeks.
