Leader In Me and 7 Habits: “We only get one chance to prepare our students for the future. What are we going to do with that one chance?”  – Dr. Stephen R. Covey, The Leader in Me.

Huebner is a “Leader in Me” school. We follow the principles of Steven Covey’s The Leader in Me and Sean Covey’s The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. We start the year by teaching the students the 7 habits of happy kids and work to make those habits relatable and meaningful for each child. The 7 habits are: Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand then to be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.

Through the use of the 7 habits, students begin to realize they have control over much of what happens in their lives and can be true leaders. We teach that their choices can affect their day, their relationships, and their future. The 7 habits empower even our young Kindergartners to stop and think about their choices and the different outcomes that may come from those choices.
