Mrs. Jenny Read
Hi Huskies! My name is Jenny Read, and I'm a Special Education Teacher. I work with 4th and 5th grade students in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Math. As a Co-Teacher and Resource Teacher, I have the opportunity to work with students in small groups and in their classrooms. Watching my students grow and achieve their individual goals is the most rewarding part of being a teacher. We all face challenges and things that may be hard for us. The lesson I share with my students is "the magic of YET." I love reading this book and sharing the message of "I'm not able to do that YET."
Huebner Elementary is a place I hold near and dear to my heart. Something you may not know about me is that I was a part of the original faculty when our school first opened. It was such an exciting experience to open a school. I was a Special Education Teacher for Kindergarten, First, and Second grade students. I taught for five years and then stayed home to be a mom. It was bitter-sweet to leave, but things came full circle when my own children attended Huebner. Although I wasn't teaching, I was still involved at Huebner as a parent and volunteer. In 2019, a new chapter began as a Special Education Teacher for 4th grade students. This is my 10th year of teaching, and I'm looking forward to the adventure! I earned my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Applied Learning and Development and my Master's Degree in Special Education.
My husband, Doug and I, met in college at UT Austin. Hook 'em! We've been married for 27 years. We have three amazing children who are all former Huebner Huskies! Our daughter, Mackenzie, is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin. Go Longhorns! Our son, Garrett, is a sophomore at The University of Alabama. Roll Tide! Our youngest son, Cameron, is a junior at Churchill High School. Go Chargers!
I look forward to working with your Huskies!
