A man on a mission to volunteer #theNEISDway
When Roger Travis volunteers at Huebner Elementary School, he’s on a mission to make every child feel special. He’s also there to help make sure they’re safe. As a Watch D.O.G., he can do just that.
“I want to be a visible presence on campus and in the school and hopefully make the students feel safe.”
Travis served 22 years in the U.S. Army as an infantryman. He started volunteering at Huebner five years ago as a way to get involved with his granddaughters’ education. The students and staff make volunteering the highlight of his week.
“Huebner Elementary staff and faculty never cease to impress me, and I feel blessed to have them educating and taking care of my granddaughters. They are truly remarkable, and I appreciate them more than I can convey.”
It's Public School Volunteer Week! Our volunteers help strengthen our communities by donating their time and resources. Volunteer at NEISD to learn how to get involved and make a difference #theNEISDway.
