Churchill students contribute to campus clean-up.

There’s a motto at Churchill High School that goes: We care. We create. We compete.

They might want to add “We contribute” to that list.

Every other week, a couple dozen students grab gloves and trash bags and walk the campus to help the custodial staff pick up trash.

Seniors Zoey Williams and Kai Clark lead the trash-collecting Contribution Club.

“It shows our staff that we think about them and that we care and do want to help,” said Williams.

Clark added, “My favorite part of Churchill is: I love how supportive the teachers and staff are here. This is an easy way for us to give back.”

While the club has been focused on its campus, the students plan to start branching out and doing community clean ups at parks and other places. At Churchill, they aren’t just learning academics; these students are learning how to make their community cleaner and more enjoyable for themselves and others.

“This makes me really happy because I love Churchill High School,” said Williams. “It has offered me so much and shown me so many opportunities that I am happy to give back.”
